Mission Statement

When I was in college, I had an instructor that told us our mission statement to ourselves was just as important as a mission statement in a brochure. She said that it let others see all the things we wanted to accomplish with the glitz and glam.We then got the assignment of making a mission statement to ourselves,   All I could think was, "You want me to spend my Friday night writing a brochure about myself?". Her answer was" Yes!" After stalling all night I figured I may as well try and accomplish this ridiculous task given to me. The assignment was ten things we wanted the world to know about us; what we wanted to accomplish, what our life goals were, what we wanted to leave the world with. I started thinking, what DO I want to leave this world with? When I woke up on that cold Saturday morning my mind was flooded with the things I not only wanted to accomplish, but what I wanted to leave this world with:
1. I want to be SUCCESSFUL!
2. I want to be in love!
3. I want to make other smile and see their true beauty.
4. I want to write a book.
5. I want to travel the world and fall in love with people that I meet.
6: I want people to see me and think, "She is a powerful, beautiful, kind woman.".
7. I want to be strong enough to speak for myself.
8. I don't want to CARE ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK!
9.I want my family to be proud of me.
10. I want to be proud of myself.

After thinking up these ten things that meant a  lot to me, I had a break down. I had spent 19 years letting others CONTROL me, be MEAN to me, tell me I WASN'T good enough, tell me how HARD life is, tell me I was TOO nice, tell me I CARED too much. Then it finally clicked, these were all EXCUSES from my peers. They had to bring me down because I was finding my way up, I was leaving them in the dark and I was finding the light. My mind was blown. All I could think was "To hell with you! How dare you try and keep me down, I will never EVER allow others to make me feel like I can't be these things again!!"

My mission statement changed... Before I kept saying the things I "wanted" to be. Wanting is like sitting on a fence. You either are or your not. In our life we can't want for things, we either have them or we don't. It's a choice that we make. Because we have the choice to be whatever we want to be! Here was my real mission statement:
1. I am SUCCESSFUL!
2. I am in LOVE!
3. I DO make others smile and see their true beauty!
4. I will write a book!
5. I will travel the world and love the people that I meet.
6. People DO think of me as a POWERFUL, BEAUTIFUL, KIND WOMAN!
7.I AM strong, and I DO speak for myself.
8. I DONT care what others think, I'm HAPPY with myself.
9. My family IS proud of me.
10. McKenzie, I'm SO proud of you, and I Love you!

My first mission statement was weak, I wasn't committed to it. My second mission statement was strong, and guess what I BELIEVED it! We all have a mission statement, and It can always change. But once you find it, you suddenly realize that all those things just come to you, and its easy to live your mission statement. Living is supposed to be easy. Having doubt, anger, and not believing in yourself is what makes life hard. Start now by making your life EASY! Write your mission statement, see the changes in yourself and your life that YOU CREATED. People will act differently around you, they will know who you are, because you have set the bar for who and what you are. They can NO LONGER tell you who you are. You have it in your mind and heart who you are, what you represent and how you want to be seen. Now go take your city and show them the amazing person you are. Write your mission statement, create the ultimate person you know you can be!

I would love for you to share your mission statement
Lots of Love,
Kenzie
